Morocco's secret rocky desert — camel rides, quad biking, Atlas Mountain views and a luxury sunset dinner, all just 45 minutes from Marrakech.
Private vehicle collects you for the short scenic drive south towards the High Atlas Mountains. Agafay plateau comes into view after just 45 minutes.
Step into a lunar, rocky landscape stretching to the snow-capped Atlas peaks. This is Morocco's "desert near Marrakech" — no sand dunes, but raw dramatic beauty.
Ride a dromedary across the plateau for 30 minutes, then optional quad bike (own cost, from €25) through the rocky trails with mountain views.
Traditional Moroccan feast — salads, tagine, couscous and mint tea served in a beautifully decorated desert camp with panoramic Atlas views.
Many desert camps offer a pool overlooking the desert. Relax, explore or simply soak in the silence of the vast plateau.
Watch the sun dip behind the Atlas Mountains before the comfortable 45-minute drive back to your Marrakech accommodation.

"Desert magic just 45 min from Marrakech!"
I couldn't believe how close this was to Marrakech. The lunch in the Berber tent with Atlas views was incredible. The camel ride, the silence, the sunset — absolutely worth every penny!
"Perfect afternoon escape"
We did the sunset version — magical! The colours over the Atlas as the sun set were unreal. Brahim's team organised everything seamlessly. The food was exceptional too.
"Un coup de cœur absolu"
Le désert d'Agafay est spectaculaire. Déjeuner sous la tente berbère avec vue sur l'Atlas, balade à dos de chameau... tout était parfait. Chauffeur extrêmement professionnel.
Agafay offers a completely different experience — rocky lunar landscape with Atlas Mountain views, perfect for a day trip. The Sahara (Merzouga) has sand dunes but requires 2+ days travel. Both are spectacular in different ways.
Yes! A sunset dinner tour with departure around 15:00 is very popular. Watching the Atlas Mountains glow orange at sunset while dining in the desert is unforgettable.
Many premium camps in Agafay have pools (available approximately April–October). We can confirm availability for your specific date when booking.
Sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat are essential. The desert plateau can be very hot in summer and cool in winter evenings. A light layer for the evening is recommended October–April.
