Zagora is 5 hours from Marrakech (vs 7+ hours for Merzouga) — making it ideal for 2-day tours. Zagora's Erg Chigaga dunes are less visited and more authentic. Merzouga has the famous 150m-high Erg Chebbi dunes and a larger desert landscape. Both are spectacular — Zagora is better for shorter trips.
