Pick-up in Casablanca. Visit the Hassan II Mosque (exterior, one of the world's largest). Drive north to Rabat: Kasbah of the Udayas, Mohammed V Mausoleum and Hassan Tower. Continue to the charming whitewashed port town of Asilah — famous for its street murals and Andalusian walls. Late afternoon arrival in Chefchaouen, the magical blue city. Check-in to riad. First walk through the blue-painted medina lanes as the lights come on. Dinner in the central square.
Spend the morning exploring Chefchaouen with a local guide — the cobalt and indigo alleyways, the 15th-century Kasbah Museum, the Ras El Maa waterfall where local women wash blankets in clear mountain water. Hike up to the Spanish Mosque for the best panoramic view of the city against the Rif Mountains backdrop. Afternoon at leisure — shop for hand-woven blankets, painted ceramics and locally produced olive oil. Rooftop restaurant dinner with mountain sunset views.
Morning scenic drive through the Rif Mountains. En route, optional stop in Ouezzane, a holy town known for its olive oil and zaouia. Arrive in Fes early afternoon. Check-in to your medina riad. Afternoon guided walk through Fes el-Bali: Bou Inania Madrasa (Merenid-era masterpiece of tilework), the famous Chouara Tanneries (view from leather shop terraces), Al-Qaraouiyine University (the world's oldest continuously operating university, founded 859 AD), and the Attarine Spice Souk. Traditional Fassi dinner — pastilla, tagine and mint tea.
Early departure from Fes. Stop in Meknes — the magnificent Bab Mansour gate, Moulay Ismail Mausoleum and the vast underground granaries. Visit the extraordinary Roman ruins of Volubilis (UNESCO) — ancient mosaics, the triumphal arch of Caracalla and the basilica. Continue through the alpine town of Ifrane and the Cedar Forest of Azrou (Barbary macaque monkeys!). Cross the Ziz Gorges — a spectacular palm-filled canyon. Arrive Merzouga at sunset. Sunset camel trek into Erg Chebbi dunes. Overnight luxury desert camp — Berber music, tagine dinner, stargazing.
Sahara sunrise over the golden dunes — the most photographed moment of the entire trip. Optional 4×4 morning excursion around the desert (nomad villages, fossil beds, oasis). After breakfast, drive west through Rissani (historical city, Wednesday/Sunday market) and Erfoud (fossil capital of Morocco). Visit the dramatic Todra Gorge — 300m-high orange limestone walls framing a turquoise river. Lunch at the gorge. Afternoon drive through the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, stopping at the Valley of Roses (Kelaa M'Gouna). Arrive Ouarzazate — the Hollywood of Africa — for dinner and overnight.
Morning visit to Ait Ben Haddou (UNESCO World Heritage ksar) — walk the ancient mud-brick fortress used in Gladiator, Game of Thrones and countless other productions. Climb to the top for breathtaking Atlas views. Optional visit to Atlas Film Studios. Dramatic drive over the Tizi n'Tichka pass (2,260m) through High Atlas Berber villages — snow-capped peaks in winter, wildflowers in spring. Descend to the rose-pink plains and arrive in Marrakech. Drop-off at your riad or hotel. End of tour — welcome to the Red City!

If you only have 6 days this is the tour. You see the blue city, the oldest medieval city in the world, sleep in the Sahara and end in Marrakech. The driver was professional, funny and shared so much knowledge about Morocco's history. Absolutely outstanding.
Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) are perfect. In summer, the Sahara is very hot (40°C+) but tours still operate with early morning activities. Winter is beautiful with snow on the Atlas, but the Sahara is cold at night — bring warm layers.
Day 4 (Fes to Merzouga) is the longest drive (~400km, 5–6 hours with stops). Other days range from 150–250km. All roads are paved and our drivers are experienced professionals.
